Our one year anniversary

Its amazing how quickly 12 months can go by, especially when it's the first year of a new business venture.

Before the hop yard was constructed it was just a paddock.

Once the hop yard was constructed we planted our new rhizomes.

We had our first hop harvest in early 2016.

We're taking this opportunity to reflect on what we have accomplished but more importantly to plan for 2016. Here are a few things that happened in the last 12 months at Karridale Cottages and Hop Farm:

  • changed our name to Karridale Cottages and Hop Farm to reflect our new addition - the hop yard

  • constructed and planted the first phase of our three phase hop yard

  • updated the cottage interiors to reflect our natural rustic style

  • built a new wood storage shed, bush carpentry at its best

  • added two 23,000 litre water tanks to provide a water source for our hop yard

  • installed a 5-kilowatt solar system to provide renewable energy to our cottages and hop yard

  • launched our new website and marketing photos to promote the new face of our Cottages on Air BnB, Stayz and Margaret River Tourism

  • planted 300 native seedlings to continue to increase the biodiversity of our native bushland

  • changed our cottage supplies to reflect our green edge including the use of environmental cleaning products and who gives a crap toilet paper

Cottage 3 before we replaced the couches, painted, installed new lighting and provided new furnishings.
Cottage 3 with a fresh lease on life!
Some of the little things we now provide like cheese boards and fresh loose leaf teas.

What a year, we're so proud of our efforts and have already stated to progress our next 12-month plan! Make sure to check our blog throughout the year to keep track of our progress.
